When product designers and inventors want to raise money to fund their projects, they often turn to crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. This is the case for two different types of tablet accessories that are differentiating themselves by incorporating powerful magnets into their products. Both the Flux+Flap iPad case and MiStand are currently seeking backers and funding on Kickstarter.
The Flux+Flap case is built using rare earth magnets, which serve to increase the functionality of tablets and help position them in different angles. The accessory is made with different iPad models in mind including the standard iPad, as well as the iPad Air and mini. The inventor of the Flux+Flap got the idea for the product after he was forced to prop up his tablet using pillows. The magnetic design allows the iPad to stay in the same angle the user positions it instead of falling down like some cases. For Kickstarter backers who choose to invest in the Flux-Flap case, they can expect a December delivery date for the case.
"Flux+Flap features exclusive PositionPlus technology and rare earth magnets to give you a far-stretching range of positions and angles in landscape or portrait view," the product's Kickstarter page said. "By simply sliding the flap left and right or up and down along the PositionPlus cross track, iPad users can find the perfect position every time."
Accessory features higher powered magnets for stand
Another accessory hoping to gain the attention of Kickstarter backers is the MiStand. This stand comes with a base and a removable plate made out of aluminum. The removable plate is connected to the magnetic ball, which allows users to angle and rotate the tablet. It is also versatile enough to be used for smartphones. By being able to tilt and rotate, the MiStand could help tablet users type from a comfortable and sturdy angle using its aluminum body. The MiStand is especially helpful for games that require players to rotate their iPads, such as during racing games where users must turn their tablets to steer the car.
"The magnetic ball joint allows fluid 3-D rotation and viewing adjustments of any compatible tablet being used on MiStand which means you can now really 'see things your way'!" according to the MiStand Kickstarter page.
While the Flux+Flap case is available in two colors, black and grey, the MiStand has a larger range of colors with the ability to mix and match plate and stand colors.
