Materials
Soft ferrite is generally composed of two formulations, manganese and zinc (MnZn) or nickel and zinc (NiZn). The MnZn are generally used at frequencies below 3 MHz and exhibit a higher permeability (µ’) and saturation induction levels (Bsat). NiZn ferrites have a very high resistivity, are most suitable for frequencies over 1 MHz and high temperature applications.
ferritemagneti.com is capable of formulating custom powder compositions as well as adjusting our standard formulations to suit the requirements of your application.
Material Data
Material Summary Data & Other Information
MnZn
The MnZn family of ferrites is characterized by permeabilities (µ) > 1000 and saturation (Bsat) to 5300 Gauss. Typical applications include power, shielding and linear inductive components. These materials are generally used at frequencies < 10 MHz and pulse applications into the nanosecond range and temperature range to > 200 °C. Cores are available in both standard and custom geometries. Our application engineers can assist you in selecting the material suitable for your specific needs.
NiZn
The NiZn family of ferrites is characterized by permeabilities (µ) < 2500. Typical applications include RF transformers, both inductively coupled and transmission line broadband to frequencies > 1GHz, pulse power devices where pulse shaping and fast switching (e.g. < 10 nanoseconds) is required and for general inductive or suppression application in the MHz spectrum. Cores are available in both standard and custom geometries. Our application engineers can assist you in selecting the material suitable for your specific needs.
Ultra Dense Ferrite
The dense ferrites were developed for: recording heads and guides where the material contacts the media, applications where the ferrite material is used to measure a material in motion and in applications where the mechanical integrity of the ferrite is critical.
